Enjoy an apple a day with this thick, creamy Apple Smoothie. Spinach, apple, cinnamon and a few simple ingredients blend into a delicious smoothie that’s perfect for apple-picking season.

An apple a day…
I playfully call this the Apple Pie Smoothie because the cinnamon and apple pairing has that cozy, dessert-like vibe—without any baking required. This version is a thick, green smoothie with a creamy texture and a pleasant apple-forward flavor.
I’ve been making this smoothie for a long time. It’s an easy and tasty way to get an apple (and some greens) into your day.

This Apple Smoothie is a great way to include leafy greens in your routine. My toddler actually loves it—leafy greens are often easier to sneak into a child’s diet when blended into a fruity smoothie.
If you find yourself tired of berry smoothies, this is a refreshing change. It feels a little like a treat, thanks to the apple, vanilla, and cinnamon—perfect for autumn or anytime you want something different.
Can I make this Apple Pie Smoothie vegan?
Yes—this recipe is naturally vegan when you use a plant-based milk and a nut butter.
Do I have to peel my apple before adding it to the smoothie?
No. You can add the apple with the peel on. Cut it into large chunks if needed; a high-powered blender will handle it easily. I usually remove the core and toss the pieces in without peeling.
How can I add extra protein?
Try one of these options to boost protein:
- Protein powder: Vanilla works especially well—add one scoop before blending.
- Cottage cheese: Add about 1/4 cup for extra protein and a creamy texture.
- Greek yogurt: Vanilla or plain Greek yogurt will increase protein; add a touch of sweetener if using plain.
- Chia seeds: They add some protein plus fiber and healthy fats.

What you will need to make this apple smoothie:
- Apple: Gala or Fuji are my favorites here for their balanced sweet-tart flavor. Use any variety you prefer.
- Frozen banana: I keep frozen banana chunks in the freezer to add creaminess and natural sweetness.
- Spinach: Adds a mild green flavor and vibrant color without overpowering the smoothie.
- Vanilla almond milk: Not required, but it adds nice flavor. Use another milk and a splash of vanilla extract if preferred.
- Almond butter: Adds body, healthy fats and some protein.
- Cinnamon: The key flavor—adjust amount to taste.
