If you want a kid-friendly edible craft, these Halloween Banana Mummy Pops are perfect. They’re easy for little hands to help with, a playful way to serve fruit, and a quick addition to a Halloween party or school event.

Why You Will Love These Halloween Bananas:

  • Perfect for kids to help make.
  • Tasty and simple to prepare.
  • Freezer-friendly for later.
  • A sweet treat that includes fruit.

What You Will Need:

  • Bananas: ripe to your preference. These are best eaten soon after making unless you plan to freeze them.
  • White or melting chocolate: white chocolate chips, melting wafers, or candy melts all work well.
  • Candy eyeballs: usually found in the baking aisle around Halloween. Mini chocolate chips or tiny raisins are good substitutes if needed.
  • Popsicle sticks: standard popsicle sticks give more stability than very thin cake pop sticks.
  • Plastic bag or piping bag: a small zip-top sandwich bag or an icing bag to drizzle the chocolate.

How to Make These Halloween Banana Mummies:

These are quick to assemble. Follow these steps:

  1. Peel each banana and cut it in half. Place the halves on parchment paper.
  2. Heat white chocolate in 20–25 second increments in the microwave, stirring between each interval. Stop heating when most pieces are melted and stir until smooth. Avoid overheating, which can make the chocolate thick and grainy.
  3. Pour the melted chocolate into a plastic sandwich bag or a piping/icing bag. Let it cool slightly so it’s easier to control.
  4. Cut a small corner from the bag to create a narrow opening for drizzling.
  5. Pipe two small dots of melted chocolate where you want the eyes, press the candy eyeballs into the dots, and hold for about 30 seconds so they set and don’t slide.
  6. Drizzle the remaining chocolate in a zig-zag pattern over each banana to create a mummy wrap look. Let the chocolate set before serving, or freeze for a chilled treat.

Recipe Tips:

  • Be gentle when inserting popsicle sticks. An adult should help to avoid pushing the stick through the banana. A small dab of melted chocolate around the base where the stick enters can help secure it.
  • Customize freely. Use different candies for eyes, add sprinkles, shredded coconut, or color the chocolate for varied looks. This is a great project for kids to get creative.
  • Best eaten immediately unless frozen. Bananas brown quickly, and refrigeration isn’t ideal. Freeze extras—they’ll keep up to two months and make a refreshing frozen snack.

Prep Time: 10
Total Time: 15
Servings: 6

Ingredients

  • 3 bananas
  • 1 c white chocolate chips
  • 12 candy eyeballs
  • 6 popsicle sticks (lollipop sticks work too)
  • icing bag or plastic sandwich bag

Instructions

  • Peel bananas and cut in half. Place on parchment paper.
  • Gently press a pop stick into each banana half.
  • Melt white chocolate chips in a microwave-safe bowl in 25-second intervals, stirring until fully melted. Do not overheat. Alternatively, use a double boiler. Transfer chocolate to an icing or plastic bag.
  • Cut a small slit in the bag. Pipe a short line of chocolate where the eyes will go, press the candy eyes into the chocolate, and allow to set about 30 seconds. Then drizzle chocolate back and forth to create mummy bandages.
  • Let the chocolate cool and harden. Serve immediately or freeze to enjoy later.

Notes

  • Handle the bananas gently when inserting sticks. An adult should help with this step. A dab of melted chocolate at the base can help secure the stick.
  • Make them your own. Swap in different candies, add sprinkles or shredded coconut, or color the chocolate for variety.
  • Eat soon or freeze. These are best fresh unless frozen. Refrigerating can cause browning; frozen pops keep up to two months.
