Spring always brings fresh inspiration, and this smoothie was born from craving something light and refreshing. It tastes like a nostalgic creamsicle—or maybe a Dreamsicle—and is incredibly simple to make.

To boost protein in smoothies I often use ingredients like chia seeds, Greek yogurt, or nuts. In this recipe, vanilla protein powder provides most of the protein while the fruit and milk create a smooth, creamy texture.

Why You Will Love This Orange Creamsicle Protein Smoothie:

  • Reminiscent of a classic frozen treat with a fresh twist.
  • Packed with protein to keep you satisfied and energized.
  • Ready in about 5 minutes—blend and go.
  • Uses only a few simple ingredients.
  • Easy to customize to taste or dietary needs.

Recipe Ingredients:

  • banana: one large frozen banana (keeping frozen bananas on hand makes smoothie prep quick)
  • orange: one large navel orange, peel removed; optional orange zest for extra brightness
  • milk: 3/4 cup milk of choice—vanilla almond milk, dairy (whole, 2%, skim), coconut milk, or any plant milk will work
  • vanilla: 1 tsp vanilla extract to enhance the creamsicle flavor
  • protein powder: 2–3 tablespoons vanilla-flavored protein powder; use a brand you enjoy
  • ice: optional, only if needed to thicken (use extra frozen banana instead of ice for a creamier texture)
