Celebrate the stars and stripes with this patriotic Red, White and Blue Funfetti Dip (also called Dunkaroo Dip). Cake-batter flavor in a creamy, dippable treat—only 5 ingredients and about 5 minutes to make. Perfect for dipping graham crackers, vanilla wafers, pretzels and more.

If you love funfetti cake, you’ll adore this Funfetti Dip. It captures that cake-batter sweetness in a smooth, no-bake dip that’s ready in minutes. The red, white and blue sprinkles give it a festive look—ideal for 4th of July, Memorial Day, Labor Day, or any celebration where a patriotic touch is welcome.
Why you will love this recipe:
- Just 5 ingredients. A short shopping list makes this an easy, last-minute party option. You will, however, want lots of dippers on hand.
- Kid-friendly and nostalgic. Kids love it, and adults who remember Dunkaroos will get a fun nostalgia kick from this cake-batter dip.
- Ready in 5 minutes. Combine the ingredients, fold in sprinkles, chill briefly, and you’re done.
- Customizable and festive. Swap sprinkles to match any theme or holiday for an instantly festive dessert.

Ingredients and substitutions
- White cake mix: White cake mix keeps the dip bright and lets the sprinkles stand out. Yellow cake mix will work but changes the color slightly.
- Cool Whip: One 8 oz container, thawed. Classic, extra creamy, light or fat-free varieties can all be used depending on preference.
- Vanilla yogurt: I use vanilla yogurt for extra flavor and to slightly balance sweetness. Choose a variety with modest added sugar if you prefer it less sweet.
- Vanilla extract: A teaspoon of vanilla rounds out the flavor. Use clear imitation vanilla if you want to preserve a very white color.
- Sprinkles: Red, white and blue sprinkles for a patriotic look. You can also use star-shaped sprinkles or any color combination you like.

Step-by-step instructions
If you’re concerned about raw flour, bake the dry cake mix first. Spread the mix on a sheet pan and bake at 350°F for about 5 minutes, then let it cool. This step kills any potential bacteria in raw flour.

Combine the cooled cake mix, Cool Whip, vanilla yogurt and vanilla extract in a medium bowl. Beat with an electric mixer for 2–3 minutes until smooth and creamy.

Gently fold in the sprinkles. Stir carefully so the colors don’t bleed into the dip. Transfer to a serving bowl and chill at least 20 minutes to set and let the flavors meld.

Serve this funfetti cake dip with:
- Vanilla wafers
- Animal crackers
- Graham crackers
- Pretzels
- Marshmallows
- Fresh berries
- Belgian waffle cookie wafers
- Biscoff cookies
- Teddy Grahams
- Dunkaroos (if you can find them)
Recipe tips
- Do not eat raw flour. If you haven’t baked the cake mix, the CDC advises against consuming raw flour. Baking the mix briefly until it reaches 165°F makes it safe.
- Some sprinkles may bleed. Natural dyes tend to bleed more than artificial dyes. “Jimmies” (rod-shaped sprinkles) usually bleed less than shaped sprinkles or nonpareils. Choose high-quality sprinkles for the cleanest look.
- Chill before serving. Chilling gives the dip a thicker, fluffier texture and helps the flavors blend.
- Prefer no dyes? Dye-free sprinkles are available if you want to avoid artificial food coloring.
