We’re big fans of pork at our house, and ground pork is one of my go-to proteins. It’s versatile and cooks quickly, which makes it ideal for recipes like these Teriyaki Ground Pork Stir Fry and other favorites such as Ground Pork Tacos, Spicy Sausage Pasta, and Lemon Pepper Pork Chops. This stir fry is a new favorite—simple, satisfying, and ready in no time.

More than 3,500 family farms in Ohio raise pork, producing enough to feed millions. Many of these are small, family-run operations, and I love supporting them.

Ingredient Notes

See the recipe card below for exact measurements. A few helpful notes:

  • Ground pork: Look for plain ground pork (not seasoned sausage). If unavailable, ground turkey or beef can be substituted.
  • Sesame oil: Adds authentic flavor, but any neutral cooking oil will work if needed.
  • Broccoli: Frozen florets are convenient and cook quickly; fresh broccoli works too.
  • Soy sauce: Low-sodium soy sauce keeps sodium in check. For a gluten-free option, use tamari.
  • Brown sugar: Light or dark brown sugar both work. Coconut sugar can substitute but will change the flavor slightly.
  • Ginger: Fresh ginger is best for bright flavor; ground ginger can be used in a pinch (start small).
  • Corn starch: Thickens the sauce. Arrowroot is an alternative; mix it with water before adding.
  • Orange zest: A small amount of orange zest brightens the teriyaki sauce—don’t skip it if you can help it.

Recipe Tips

  • Want it saucier? Double the teriyaki sauce for extra coating and flavor.
  • Add heat: Stir in sriracha, hot sauce, or red pepper flakes for spice.
  • Adjust sauce consistency: If the sauce is too thick, add a tablespoon of water at a time. If too thin, whisk more cornstarch with water and add gradually.

Storing Leftovers

Store leftovers in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 4 days.

This stir fry also freezes well for up to 3 months in a sealed freezer container. When freezing, consider making a little extra sauce to toss in after thawing to refresh the texture and flavor.
